This is a full time, one year, limited term position. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funding.
The Department of Human Development and Family Science is seeking a Mgr, Academic Programs (Accreditation Facilitation Program Managing Director) to provide leadership and programmatic oversight for AFP, a Family Child Care Partnerships (FCCP) quality enhancement program, which partners with family childcare providers statewide. The primary focus, through strategic outreach and collaboration, is to promote high quality childcare by increasing awareness and strengthening the profession of family childcare providers/educators who provide services to children enrolled in a family childcare-based setting.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: ensure program compliance with University, state, and federal policies and procedures; recruit, evaluate, and coordinate the mentorship, professional development and quality enhancement activities of the AFP target audience, and providing information and training addressing AFP program requirements including accreditation, proper procedures and techniques, state Quality Rating and Improvement System standards, and National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) accreditation standards; supervise AFP field-based Mentors and student employees; provide guidance and collaborate with the Manager and Specialist, provide clear information, feedback, and guidance on project-specific policies and procedures, job performance standards and professional conduct and development; consult with Executive Director to implement, monitor, promote, and direct the program; and effectively communicate – through formal presentations as well as informal channels – to convey program objectives, methods, lessons learned, progress, etc., to Executive Director, project staff, clientele, funding agencies, collaborative partners, and other stakeholders.
Additional major responsibilities include: oversight of the budget planning process and ongoing monitoring of AFP budgets and expenditures in collaboration with the Accountant; review and approve and/or disapprove staff purchases and requests; coordinate and monitor the operation of field-based and campus-based activities, and evaluate the implementation of program strategies, schedules, and special events; compile information form reports submitted on a monthly basis by project personnel and prepare monthly and quarterly reports for dissemination as required by the Alabama Department of Human Resources and/or other funding agencies; maintain strong, professional relationships with the Executive Director and all stakeholders; assist in ensuring that AFP equipment and materials are properly acquired, operational, and maintained in good working order and distributed efficiently to other staff and/or clients; and support the development and implementation of approaches and strategies to grow programs through extramural funding sources.
