Position Summary

The University at Buffalo (UB) department of Inclusive Excellence seeks to hire a Staff Associate for Inclusive Excellence. The Staff Associate works with a diverse constituency including students, faculty, staff, student groups and alumni to promote inclusive excellence at the university and assists with implementing UB’s Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Plan. This position reports to the Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
    • Project management and research pertaining to inclusive excellence topics such as: legislation, access, equity and inclusion in higher education and emerging issues and best practices. Develop related research proposals. Assess and evaluate progress towards inclusive excellence goals.
    • Recommend and assist with the implementation of inclusive excellence related policies and practices.
    • Design, implement, promote and lead highly sensitive inclusive excellence programs, workshops and events on a wide range of inclusive excellence topics such as search committee training, cultural competency, and implicit bias.
    • Manage budgets related to programming and other events managed by the Office of Inclusive Excellence.
    • Generate annual Inclusive Excellence reports, training materials and newsletters.
    • Represent the Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence at meetings and events.
    • Administrative coordination of the Unit Diversity Officer Network and ad hoc committees.
    • Supervise Graduate Assistants.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
  • Excellent oral, written, public speaking and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Computer experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
