The School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University officially merged in 2016, further enhancing the visual arts, central to the University’s mission since its founding. The position of Development Coordinator, SMFA at Tufts will support the School of the Museum of Fine Arts development team to raise the significant philanthropic resources necessary to meet the annual giving, capital, and endowment needs of the school. The position will be a part of University Advancement, which is responsible for developing relationships with prospective donors through face-to-face visits, donor events, as well as by facilitating meetings with university leadership. Direct mail, annual reports, publications and other means of communication are employed to cultivate prospects, develop awareness of the university’s strengths, reputation, needs and priorities while setting the stage for major gift solicitations. This position’s primary responsibilities will provide critical administrative support for all aspects of the SMFA development team’s efforts to encourage support for the school from multiple constituencies.



What You'll Do

The Development Coordinator will advance engagement and fundraising initiatives, with an emphasis on data entry, analysis, outreach, events and donor engagement and stewardship. They will oversee the daily operation of the office, manage data entry and reporting in a complex database, and produce and draft correspondence, briefings, and marketing materials. They will coordinate the department budget to include monitoring, tracking expenditures, troubleshooting problems, and preparing reports. Additionally, this person will plan and coordinate meetings and special events, including designing promotional material and coordinating support for speakers and presenters, and will participate in solving logistical issues by collaborating with multiple colleagues and departments.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Required Experience, Education, Background, And Certifications/Licenses
• Typically a high school diploma/GED and 5+ years of administrative experience OR a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience. Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including word processing, editing and graphics functions, spreadsheet and database knowledge. In addition, experience managing a budget and excellent organizational and interpersonal skill.
