Position Summary
The Buffalo Early Learning Lab, at the University at Buffalo (PI: Dr. Federica Bulgarelli) is seeking an excited, competent, and detail-oriented full time lab coordinator to be an active member of our research team. The lab coordinator will assist with empirical research in the lab, which focuses on language learning in multiple contexts, using a variety of approaches and populations.

The position involves interacting with families, infants and toddlers, as well as adult participants and a team of researchers from the undergraduate to the postdoctoral level. Methodologies include looking time paradigms (with infants and toddlers), eye tracking (with infants, children, and adults), and corpus analyses.

Primary responsibilities of the lab manager:

    • Support an ongoing NIH National Institute of Child Health and Development R21 focused on how infant language learning is influenced by older children,
    • Assisting graduate students, postdocs and the PI in designing, creating, running, and analyzing experiments with infants, toddlers, and adults,
    • Assisting in recruitment and building of a participant database,
    • Involvement in planning lab events and meetings, as well as outreach events in the community,
    • Organizing tasks, Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, and records in the lab



The lab coordinator will also have opportunities for contribution to ongoing research projects, leading to the possibility of contributing to scientific presentations and publications. This is an ideal position for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to further their research experience. The ideal candidate has the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; is detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; is able to problem solve creatively and is enthusiastic about developmental research.

The position could include some non-traditional hours and possible travel to local museum to accommodate data collection and supervision, but this will be worked out on a case-by-case basis.This is a one year renewable position, with a 2-year desired commitment, further extendable depending on fit and funding.

The position is open until filled, but review of applications will begin February 17, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Psychology, Linguistics, Communicative Sciences and Disorders, Cognitive science, or other related field
  • Experience with human subjects research related to the above fields
  • Feeling comfortable interacting with children and families
  • Strong independent work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research with children and families
  • Leadership in groups and teams working towards a common goal
  • Experience with software such as R, Praat, Python
  • Experience with graphic design and website management



Physical Demands


Salary Range
$40,000 - $42,000
