The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing Human Resources (HR) related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR Management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Administers various human resources programs and procedures for all University employees
Assists in monitoring the performance appraisal process
Participates in benefit administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and approving invoices for payment
Conducts new employee orientation; pre-employment testing/verification; and reference check
Assists in exit interview and onboarding process
Assists in organizational training and development efforts
Maintains Human Resources Information System records and compile reports from database as needed
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
Maintains organization charts and employee directory
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of Human Resources experience, or a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and two years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
Must be a team player and able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Must have user knowledge of computer and other related office equipment
Must have user knowledge of internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Must have knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources Management
Experience with an HRIS database is preferred
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Ability to work well with others
Proficient in mathematics
