Departmental Overview
Residential and Student Service Programs (RSSP) is part of the Division of Student Affairs under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor of RSSP. RSSP provides student housing, residential life programs, dining services, and child care services; it also conducts conference services, operates campus restaurants, and manages faculty apartments.

University Village Family Housing complex, located in Albany, CA includes 974 student family apartments in 70 apartment buildings plus numerous common areas such as laundries, administrative offices Community Center, Academic Center, gymnastics building (app bay) , ECEP, etc.
Responsibilities

  • Provides activity instruction to program participants, individually or in groups. Areas may include: art, drama, music, progressive and age appropriate gymnastics (children ages 9 months to teen); science, sports, language arts, dance, aerial arts, circus arts, gardening/cooking
  • Maintains a supportive environment for program participants and facilitate involvement
  • Interacts with recreational program participants in a positive manner
  • Broadens knowledge of teaching methods, techniques and skills through continuing education
  • Participates in required professional development activities
    Required Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures
  • Expertise and pedagogy in one of the following areas; art, drama, music, gymnastics, science, sports, language arts, dance, aerial arts, circus arts, or gardening/cooking
  • Requires verbal and written communication in the English language, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills
  • Able to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills
  • Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking
  • Basic Computer Knowledge
  • Knowledge of campus policies and procedures
  • Able to work in youth camps, fitness, outdoor programs
  • Red Cross CPR Certification
  • Standard First Aid Training Certification
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification to instruct in the applicable recreational sports program or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience working with age level specific to an activity
