Position Summary
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering ( CBE) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo seeks to hire an Instructional Support Technician. In this position, you will perform the following duties:
- Support CBE disciplinary excellence initiatives in sustainability and clean energy:
- Coordinate with faculty to select, procure, and install new instrumentation and equipment, and work with University Facilities to ensure all necessary utilities are in place.
- Maintain records of all critical research instrumentation and, in collaboration with research faculty, ensure that all required maintenance is performed.
- Train or coordinate training of new graduate students on existing equipment and key users of new equipment.
- Dispose of excess instrumentation and equipment in coordination with faculty and the department Facilities and Operations Coordinator,
- Act as a CBE safety liaison for inspections by University health and safety
- Support CBE’s undergraduate teaching labs:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lab equipment as needed.
- Maintain all necessary supplies for the labs
- Work with the lab instructor to develop plans for new teaching experiments or improvements to existing experiments. This may include fabrication of new equipment by the SEAS Engineering Machine Shop, in which case the applicant will prepare detailed drawings. This may also include electrical wiring of sensors and datalogging / graphing with software including LabView.

Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Chemical Engineering or in a related field and 2 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters or PhD preferred
