Position Summary
In keeping with the President’s commitment to Tuskegee University Becoming "One Tuskegee", the ideal Academic Success Coordinator will possess the willingness to use their expertise in transforming Tuskegee into a leading 21st century living and learning environment.

   Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Coordinator for Academic Success is responsible for assisting to develop, oversee, and implement the  vision  of  the  Academic   Success  Program  for  the  School  of  Nursing   and  Allied  Health.  The Coordinator is the primary liaison  between the Dean and the SONAH  Academic  Success  Program, the Coordinator   provides  leadership   by  effectively   developing  and  implementing   initiatives   to  recruit qualified   students,   provide  academic   advisement   and  assist  students   to  maximize    their  academic performance.   The Coordinator  for  Academic  Success  reports  directly  to  the  Dean  of the  School  of Nursing  and Allied Health. Responsibilities  include the following:

Provides  advisement  and support  services  to potential and currently  enrolled  students  within the School of Nursing & Allied Health Commitment to furthering  best practices  in academic  support,  including  the  implementation  of the most effective pedagogical models  and practices  for student  success Successful program administration, including delivering and assessing all aspects of a program to foster/recruitment, admission,  retention and graduation of SONAH students Provision of effective academic advising and professional development  counseling  for students The application  of  interpersonal  communication  skills  with various  constituencies and the ability to work/collaboratively with colleagues Creation of programs for mentoring  and working with students from diverse  academic  backgrounds Participation in the larger community for academic success professionals, including attending  or presenting at conferences or other endeavors to support  professional development Works within  the  system   in  a resourceful  manner  to  accomplish reasonable work  goals; shows   flexibility  in response  to  process   change   and  adapts   to  and  accommodates  new methods and procedures. Expressed willingness to support  the values and mission of Tuskegee  University Coordinate and monitor structured intervention and support programs for at-risk students Availability to work Monday through Friday- some weekends  required. Flexibility a must.

Qualifications

Terminal degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Counseling, Nursing or a related Health Science discipline Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external constituents (students, faculty, staff, agency personnel); exceptional customer services skills; strong organizational and record keeping skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.  Experience in a higher education setting required. Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
