Position Summary
The University at Buffalo Tutoring and Academic Support Services office, within the department of Student Success and Academic Support (SSAS), seeks to hire an innovative and highly professional Coordinator of First-Generation Programs. The Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership, development, and implementation of programming and services for first generation undergraduate students. In addition, the Coordinator will supervise Peer Mentors, whom will be assigned to first-year student participants identified as first generation. The Coordinator will work with constituents across campus to provide support and outreach to one of the most at-risk populations.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and implement first-generation programming.
Develop an outreach plan to support first-generation students at key points throughout their first year.
Assess the first-generation programs.
Provide leadership and oversight of the campus-wide First-Generation Peer Mentoring and UB Thrive Summer Bridge programs.
Recruit, hire, supervise, and train the Center’s first-generation Graduate Assistant and first-generation Peer Mentors.
Serve as a liaison to EAB Navigate, ensuring all mentors have appropriate access to the system, are utilizing the system to run reports, and execute assessment activities.
Maintain and update the first-generation website.
Serve on campus committees and organizations that promote first-generation college students.

This position will report directly to the Director of Tutoring and Academic Support Services. This position is for a two (2) year Term appointment.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required with two (2) years’ experience with demonstrated competencies in the following areas:
Experience serving and supporting diverse student populations.
Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (written, verbal and listening) with ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse populations.
High-level of organizational skill, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
High attention to detail/accuracy.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Strong working knowledge of MS office applications required including Word, Excel, and Access database administration and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s of Higher Education.
One or more years’ professional experience working with students in a higher education or education setting
Experience developing programming for undergraduate First Generation.
