Overview

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will conduct a variety of routine experiments by following established procedures and protocols including: mice breeding and genotyping, performing assays, tissue sectioning and staining, electrophoresis and other laboratory techniques. The tools and methods that are routinely employed in the lab include western blotting, PCR, transgenic animal models, animal surgery and experimental pathology, immunohistochemistry, 3D imaging with microCT and fluorescence microscopy imaging.


What You'll Do

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will conduct a variety of routine experiments by following established procedures and protocols including: mice breeding and genotyping, performing assays, tissue sectioning and staining, electrophoresis and other laboratory techniques. Essential Functions:

• Conducts experiments following appropriate protocols and procedures to achieve results
• Performs techniques such as mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, and others
• Assists in lab operations by monitoring and requesting supplies, maintaining equipment, ensuring lab space cleanliness and organization and following laboratory safety protocols.
• Performs other duties as needed to facilitate research and lab operations. This will include presentations at lab meetings and assistance in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or M.S. degree in science. Previous laboratory experience is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
    The person in this position must manage their time well and be very organized.
  • He or she should possess the ability and confidence to work independently, under the supervision of the PI.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are important as the position interacts with many types of employees within the laboratory and beyond.
  • Must have basic computer skills – spreadsheets and word documents.


Pay Range

Minimum $19.80, Midpoint $23.55, Maximum $27.30
 

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
