The Admissions Unit of the University at Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (UBEOC) is seeking an Admissions Assistant. The University Center for Academic and Workforce Development, State University of New York and UBEOC mission for the Center is to provide both urban and disadvantaged residents in the Western New York area with tuition-free academic programs, workforce development training and certifications that lead to gainful employment opportunities.
The Admissions Assistant position will serve on the professional staff in the UBEOC Office of Admissions. This person will work closely with the Admissions Recruiters to determine students’ eligibility and schedule students for Orientation and assessments. The candidate for this position will interact with the Supervisor of Enrollment Management as well as other Admissions staff to ensure that potential students receive accurate information on programming, schedules, prerequisites, and preliminary advisement on how to utilize BANNER self-serve. In addition, the Admissions Assistant will support the overall functions of the Admissions Office through assisting with recruitment and center events and activities as requested. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Advise students and determining eligibility.
- Assist Admissions Recruiters with intake process and enrollment verifications using systems which include, but are not limited: Argos, Banner, ApplicationXtender, and SAAEAPS.
- Maintain contact with recruits and applicants
- Assist with recruitment events and activities on and off-site.
- Provide front desk coverage, which includes answering phones, collecting data and managing waiting area while Admissions Secretary 1 is on break.
- Assist Admissions Recruiters with social media outreach via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

A bachelor’s degree, experience in an office environment, effective oral and communication skills, and a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Position requires flexibility with the work schedule and the ability to work some evening and weekend hours are required. Some travel required within areas of New York State.
Experience in an Admissions office. A background in Communications and Public Relations; Fluency in Spanish (including speaking, writing, and comprehending). Working knowledge of Banner and Argos systems.
