Departmental Overview

UC Berkeley's University Health Services (UHS) is a comprehensive campus based health center providing fully accredited primary care, counseling and psychological services, and innovative health promotion programs for students, faculty and staff. The UHS provides on-campus medical and mental health care and coordinates supplemental needs for off-campus care through a network of community specialists and hospitals. The Clinical Services Program within the UHS includes urgent care clinics, general medical and specialty clinics, laboratory, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology and a major insurance plan covering Berkeley students.

Responsibilities

Radiography
A: Takes all necessary studies and special views upon written request of clinician. Responsible for minimizing the amount of radiation exposure to both themselves and the patient. Employs techniques appropriately, efficiently, and effectively while responding to patients needs. Processes images, and makes copies as needed. Uploads outside studies.
B. Provides technical consultation to clinical and other radiology staff. Assists clinicians with finding reports or results.

Quality Control
A: Complies with department quality assurance and quality control monitors. Complies with all regulatory policies and procedures to assure the needs of patients and staff are met.
B: Follows safety policies and procedures and wears appropriate dosimetry per Radiation Safety.
C: Prepares all paper and computer work to process exams and keep accurate statistics.
D: Checks all exams for completeness and quality, and sends studies for interpretation in a timely manner.

Communication and Customer Service
A: Demonstrates effective and positive communications. Requests and accepts feedback.
B: Demonstrates courteous and service-oriented behavior at all times when interacting with patients, families, and UHS staff.
C: Respects and guards confidentiality with patients and other staff members.
D: Problem solves patient relations. Actively addresses complaints, concerns, and suggestions. Identifies and brings to the supervisor any problems that cannot be addressed.
E: Demonstrates sensitivity to patients concerns, provides sympathetic responses to patients questions.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduation from an approved AMA school of radiography Required
  • Associate Degree or higher


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology, a valid certificate in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology issued by the California State Department of Health, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Demonstrates punctuality to work and attends required meetings. Maintains attendance and follows call out policy as per UHS guidelines.

  • Basic computer skills and experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and lifestyles.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

  • The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is Step 1.0 $45.16- Step 7.0 $50.88
  • This is a 80%, full-time (32 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
  • This position is non-exempt and paid bi-weekly.
