    Position Summary


    The Lead Programmer Analyst position will work within the Administrative Services Unit of the Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) and serves as liaison between users, the public and various subsystems and technical units and serves in a leadership function for the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) IT Help Desk operations. This position reports to the Director of Administrative Services or designee as assigned.


    In this position, you will:



      • Provide a critical role in on-site technology management as events dictate, to include assisting students at workstations, faculty/staff members in classrooms and offices, and supporting the A/V and technology for the BEOC Conference Center and Atrium.

      • Perform an active role in the successful operation and activities of the EOC IT help. Deal directly with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to address technical issues.

      • Support technology, audio/visual, and network operations and act as a liaison with UB IT, SUNY Central Administration-University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD), various UB departments, other EOCs and partnering agencies.

      • Maintain service to the BEOC network servers and provide troubleshooting response for problems or anomalies related to the operating system.

      • Perform an active leadership role in the successful operation and in-house management of current and future software (e.g. Formstack, ScreenCloud, Banner, Onguard, Milestone, etc.).

      • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual Technology Plan and Financial Plan/Budget in collaboration with the Director of Administrative Services.

      • Monitor and report network performance issues to the Director of Administrative Services or UBIT as situations necessitate.

      • Address and develop solutions for network and/or workstation performance issues with UBIT as situations necessitate.

      • Perform troubleshooting and resolve application and hardware problems as they occur.

      • Establish and maintain a working relationship with the University at Buffalo (UBIT)- in relation to installation of software such as Microsoft Office, antivirus, etc.

      • Must be able to image and clone computers.

      • Communicate with campus as required concerning phone problems, network problems specific to workstations and any system-wide upgrades.

      • Serve in a leadership capacity for maintenance and enhancements of the BEOC website and work with other IT staff, Marketing Associate, faculty, staff and University personnel in maintaining continuity of the website.

      • Creation, installation, management, and programming of database solutions, including but not limited to MySQL, MSSQL, and other databases utilized by the functional units of the BEOC.

      • Maintain BEOC computer labs and kiosks workstations in order to maximize the full benefit of computer access to the BEOC student community.

      • Provide key role in the ongoing planning, communication, and scheduling of technological resources for the BEOC.

      • Develop and support technology-based systems used in carrying out the academic and administrative functions of the BEOC.

      • Supervise, coordinate and schedule student assistants when available.

    Minimum Qualifications



    • Masters degree in computer science or information technology related field.

    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

    • Basic HTML and JavaScript knowledge.

    • Understanding Active Directory.


    Preferred Qualifications




      • Experience working in a diverse Adult Education environment.

      • Three years minimum competence and understanding of tasks associated with computer user support services.



    Physical Demands


    Must be able to move forty pounds.

    Salary Range
    $70,000 - $75,000
