  • Safety Officer
    Residence Life
    Alcorn State University

    The Housing Safety Officer will assist in providing a safe living-learning environment for the students residing in all residence hall facilities.

     









     
    Essential Job Functions 

     

    Perform security checks of residential facilities and identify potential safety hazards
    • Enforce Housing policies
    • Support their Residential Life staff during the assigned shift when requested or special needs arise
    • Patrol surrounding parking areas to help ensure the safety of students, staff and guests going to and from their vehicles
    • Secure residents’ doors and provide lock-out assistance
    • Conduct preliminary investigation in collaboration with the Alcorn State Police Department
    • Request proper identification on everyone entering our Resident Hall facilities
    • Make reports to Residential Life management staff on security violations
    • Report all suspicious activity to the Residential Life management staff
    • Provide written reports when required
