    Histotechnologist - Infectious Disease & Global Health - (21001878)


    This is a grant funded position. The funding for this position is for two years.

    The Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health combines expertise in basic and applied infectious disease research, public health, wildlife medicine and conservation. The alignment of these areas promotes cross-disciplinary research that is important to the mission of the Department to improve human, animal and ecosystem health. Dr. Martinot’s laboratory evaluates pathobiology and immune responses in histological specimens.

    The position requires competency in tissue fixation, preparation, embedding, sectioning and staining procedures for routine preparations. Competency in performing special (non H&E) histochemical staining and all aspects of immunohistochemical staining, including reagent preparation and application is considered essential. Training in specialized techniques including in situ hybridization (RNAscope) will be provided and will be part of the day to day laboratory efforts. All slides are read by a pathologist. Ability to create frozen sections would be welcome but is not essential.


    Basic Requirements:

    2+ years’ experience
    Certified Histologist or Histotechnologist license
    Must be proficient in immunohistochemistry
    Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. with or without accommodation
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience
    Proficient in Word and Excel
