    Under the direction of the department supervisor, provide academic tutoring services to a variety of individuals and groups; create and implement tutorial programs that guide and assist students with homework, problem solving, report writing and test preparation; provide proactive and ongoing student retention services to students needing assistance.

    [b]Major Responsibilities:[/b]

    TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

    [*] Provide academic tutoring at an advanced level to a variety of individuals and groups.
    [*] Create and implement tutorial programs that guide and assist students.
    [*] Provide proactive and ongoing student retention services to students needing assistance.
    [*] Conduct supplemental instruction sessions.
    [*] Coordinate and schedule the activities of assigned personnel and oversee the completion of tasks.
    [*] Evaluate student needs and develop appropriate course of action.
    [*] Administer tests and consult with educational departments and instructors.
    [*] Draft materials and handouts to be used within an assigned instructional session.
    [*] Maintain records and data to monitor and assess students progress.
    [*] Provide clerical support to staff as needed.

    [b]Qualifications:[/b]

    REQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES INCLUDE:

    Knowledge of a variety of academic or vocational subject areas; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary; basic arithmetic; general needs and behavior of students of various ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds; instructional methods and techniques. Ability to provide tutoring at an advanced level; conduct supplemental instruction sessions and oversee the activities and tasks of assigned personnel. Completion of the twelfth grade in addition to a minimum of a 3.0 GPA with the assigned educational specialty area. Increasingly responsible tutoring experience and advanced subject matter expertise in a variety of subject areas.
