    The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time Central Plant Operator in the Facilities Services division. The ideal candidate will share our college’s commitment to educating the more than 32,000 racially and socioeconomically diverse students we enroll each year.  Currently, our student body is approximately 45.4 percent Latinx/Hispanic, 32.2 percent White, 6.3 percent Asian, 5.5 percent African-American, 4.5 percent Pacific Islander, 2 percent multi-ethnic, and less than 1 percent Native American.     Under the supervision of the Vice President, Facilities Planning, Operations and Construction, under work direction of the Facilities Coordinator (Central Energy Services), performs skilled journey-level air conditioning and heating work in the construction, installation, trouble shooting, repair alteration and maintenance of a variety of air conditioning and heating systems. Provides hands-on maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of all Central Plant related equipment and pneumatic and direct digital controls. Performs other semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair and construction tasks in the upkeep of District facilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Six (6) years of full-time experience as a journeyman in the air conditioning and heating field to include hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of a central plant. Experience as a building maintenance mechanic or as a skilled worker in one or more building maintenance trades. Experience with energy management systems and refrigeration equipment.

    High school diploma or the equivalent completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by the completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the air conditioning and heating trade.

    Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license. Possession and renewal of any professional certificates or licenses required to perform the duties of the position.
