Berkeley Social Welfare field faculty represent a diversity of experience and talents, training and preparing our students to excel as the next generation of social work practitioners, professionals and educators.

    CalSWEC facilitates and supports statewide partnerships for the education and training of social workers to ensure culturally responsive, effective, and high-quality health and social service delivery to the people of California.

    The focus of CalSWEC, hosted by the School of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley, is on public child welfare, integrated behavioral health, and aging.

    Responsibilities
    [list]
    [*] Plans long-term statistical studies, including the preparation of proposals, design of survey instruments, and determining sampling procedures.
    [*] Performs complex research and studies.
    [*] Coordinates the identification and planning for the implementation of CalSWEC's research and evaluation projects, including the preparation of proposals and strategic plans.
    [*] Gathers, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes the collection of information and data;
    [*] Recommends statistical approaches, trends, sources and uses.
    [*] Collaborates with coordinating partner agency staff to coordinate and oversee the development, revision, and implementation of evaluation instruments to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training and educational curricula.
    [*] Facilitates, leads, convenes, and serves on statewide and local work groups, task forces and committees focused on training evaluation, composed of representatives of CalSWEC's coordinating partners.
    [*] Coordinates the development of tracking systems that provide data on training delivery throughout the state.
    [*] Oversees the collection of and analysis of evaluation data related to statewide training and curricula;
    [*] Recommends statistical approaches, trends, sources and uses;
    [*] Performs data analysis.
    [*] Interprets and translates evaluation data;
    [*] Prepares reports and presentations related to CalSWEC's evaluation efforts.
    [*] Prepares data for presentation. Identifies multivariate strategies.
    [*] Oversees the collection of and analysis of evaluation data related to statewide training and curricula;
    [*] Recommends statistical approaches, trends, sources and uses;
    [*] Performs data analysis including the following:
    [*] Develops systems for organizing data to analyze, identify and report trends.
    [*] Analyzes the interrelationships of data and defines logical aspects of data sets.
    [*] Prepares reports of studies for internal validation and cross validation studies.
    [*] Manages database of research data for projects.
    [*] Reviews new software instruments and potential effects on statistical testing.
    [*] May make programming modifications.
    [*] Oversee data entry, database management and research analysis of students, support staff and/or lower level analysts.
    [*] Supervises graduate student researchers and serves as work lead for data specialist as needed.
    [*] Implements related business processes and participates in other CalSWEC activities as requested.[/list]

    Required Qualifications
    [list]
    [*] Thorough knowledge of research function as related to training evaluation.
    [*] Thorough knowledge of evaluation and research methods.
    [*] Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming, including use of statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, etc.
    [*] Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.
    [*] Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
    [*] Skills in project management and strategic planning.
    [*] Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
    [*] Supervisory skills to assist data specialist and graduate students in managing workload.
    [*] Attentiveness to administrative and research detail.
    [*] Thorough knowledge in the applicable campus (Office for the Protection of Human Subjects) and US DHHS compliance requirements related to research, evaluation, financial conflict of interest, and research ethics.
    [*] Computer skills in word processing, database, and presentation software.
    [*] Working knowledge of training and workforce development, including knowledge of training evaluation methods and frameworks.
    [*] Ability to lead collaborative strategic planning processes focused on evaluation and research.[/list]

    Education/Training:

    Salary & Benefits

    This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience.

    Other Information

    This is a full-time, 40-hours per week, temporary (contract) position, expected to end in June 2021.
