  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems Lab Technician

    Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

    The Embry-Riddle Prescott Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program is in need of a full-time (40 hours/week) Lab Technician. The primary responsibilities include: Running UAS simulation software, building and maintaining small UAVs, maintaining and preparing UAS software and hardware for class activities, and managing the UAS flight program. The position requires extensive knowledge of UAS sub-system components, their operation, and repair. In addition, a successful candidate will instruct UAS labs, lead student groups on field exercises, and help students plan and fly missions, gathering field data for analysis. These field exercises will be conducted both on and off campus and will require prior planning, preparation, and logistics support to accommodate course requirements. Thus, the successful candidate will possess demonstrated leadership skills, good communication skills, computing skills, and organizational skills as well as a can-do attitude manifested through continuous process improvement.

    Help to oversee student UAS flight instructors
    Manage a maintenance program for various fixed and rotor wing Remotely Piloted Aircraft
    Create hardware and software guides to assist students with aircraft build, calibrate, and test functions
    Create flight training profiles and mission scenarios
    Complete tasks involving the build, test, calibration, maintenance, and flight of the programs various aircraft and sensor equipment
    Plan and lead student groups on field exercises
