This is a limited term position for 1-2 years. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.
This lab technician job exists to assist in the daily lab maintenance and research support tasks in a high-volume research lab on the Tufts Medford Campus. The position supports a range of research projects covering various aspects of organic synthesis, nanomaterials engineering, and cell culture.
Lipid synthesis: use organic chemistry to synthesize new lipid molecules. Purify the lipids and characterize them using NMR, MS and other techniques.
Nanoparticle fabrication: use microfluidics, solvent exchange and other self-assembly techniques to fabricate lipid nanoparticles. Characterize those nanoparticles using DLS and TEM.
Cell culture: standard cell culture techniques, media preparation, cell expansion, cell storage, cell characterization using molecular biology.
Supporting faculty, postdoctoral scholars, PhD/MS/Undergraduate students working in lipid synthesis, nanoparticle fabrication, and cell culture.
Assisting in order and stock levels, making lab stock solutions for lipid material preparation and test.
Chemical liquid and solid waste pick-up coordinator.
Protocol write-ups and updates of general lab activities.
Specific experimental assistance as needed on different projects.
