Primary Purpose of Position
This position is supported by the 1890 Center for Excellence to Motivate and Educate for Achievement (MEA). The MEA Center was funded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture to serve as a platform for 1890 land-grant universities to train more underrepresented students with the skills and education needed to work in agriculture, agriculture-related sciences and the food industry. This position is intended to provide overall support to the MEA Center management and partners.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has a rich history of innovation and application of cutting-edge technology. The CAES has four academic programs are the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education; the Department of Animal Sciences; the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design. Within these departments, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, community engagement, research and field work. In addition, the college’s research and experiential learning are strengthened by non-academic units including the University farm and the center for Excellence in Post-Harvest Technologies at the North Carolina Research campus. Through its Agricultural Research Program and our Cooperative Extension Program, CAES conducts research on issues of importance to North Carolina and also provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world.
