Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Perform initial evaluation of clients’ needs and develop customized treatment plans.
Establish facilitative counseling relationships with students in individual and group sessions.
Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed.
Provide professional counseling as it relates to academic, personal, social, career, or any other behavioral concerns.
Educate faculty, staff and clients on stress and trauma coding mechanisms.
Develop programs and activities, related to counseling to meet the needs of students as expressed by students and determined by the counselor.
Coordinate with social and medical agencies, health care providers and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services.
Assist in the delivery of counseling services through individual initiatives and through the performance of duties as assigned.
Maintain complete and accurate files and documentation of all action taken with or on behalf of each client.
Encourage better academic performance among underachieving students and reinforce high achieving students.
Participate in outreach programs.
Make refetrals to outside agencies.
Prepare and submit periodic reports.
Maintain confidentiality of all information, written, oral or otherwise collected and disseminated from patients and their families.
Assist with the public relations functions of the Wellness Center and the University.
Perform other job related duties assigned.
May require evening hours and/or calls for emergency and crisis prevention.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling I Student personnel.

Commensurate with education, training and experience
