Position Summary
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at UB’s School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SEAS) invites applications for the position of Research Administrator. The incumbent will provide research administrative support to the department and all active Principal Investigators (PIs) for grant proposals, postdoc awards, IRB, IACUC, and laboratory management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensively manage research proposals from pre-submission, including budget preparations and editorial support, to post-award, including student appointments, management of funds, etc.
  • Provide support to all research initiatives within the department, and must work closely with faculty while also interfacing with Sponsored Programs and various funding agencies as needed to meet all deadlines and ensure the proper prioritization of tasks.
    In addition, the Research Support Administrator must be able to balance both long-range and short-term projects simultaneously, while also attending to any urgent issues or concerns related to departmental spaces and activities:
  • Provide support for all research equipment, laboratories, key access and safety concerns
  • Serve as the department point of contact for internal and external agencies, including Environmental Health & Safety, UB/Fire Marshall, Facilities, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. One year of grant management and/or fiscal management required. The incumbent must be familiar with managing projects from start to end, and taking initiative to meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects and priorities. Excellent writing and communication skills and ability to handle request from faculty, students, staff and other School, University and State entities is expected. Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred. Direct experience with IRB, proposal writing/editing, proposal submission process, post-award management and reporting preferred. Experience with lab safety also preferred.
