We serve the acute and chronic medical needs of a diverse student body of approximately 7,500 students. The phlebotomist will work collaboratively with our senior laboratory technologist to perform all laboratory functions. Lab personnel work with a variety of clinical and administrative staff and are an important part of our multi-disciplinary team. The laboratory technician will participate in all testing performed in-house: Rapid strep testing, urinalysis, rapid mono testing, Pregnancy testing, Rapid influenza, and rapid COVID testing. They will provide phlebotomy and instruct students in routine STI testing. They will process all specimens being transported to our reference lab for chemistries, metabolic testing, other infectious disease testing, stool testing, a wide range of diagnostic testing . They will be responsible for interfacing with the reference lab to obtain results in a timely manner for HS staff. Under the direction of our medical technologist they will participate in regular validations and control testing of our equipment. They will participate in state inspections as needed. They will be able to cover all lab testing when the Medical Technologist is out of office. They will help with trouble shooting technical issues involving the interfaces of our electronic medical record and our reference lab results.
