The Office of Strategy & Program Development (OSPD) at Tufts University works on innovative university-wide strategic initiatives that help Tufts take advantage of strategic opportunities or remove barriers to innovation, with an emphasis on opportunities that generate new, sustainable revenue streams. OSPD conducts wide-ranging business analysis and market research projects to inform key programmatic and strategic decisions and supports schools in developing the academic and business cases for new programs. The Senior Analyst reports to the Director of OSPD and completes detailed market research, data analysis, and results synthesis to support the office in its key functions.

Job Responsibilities:
Market Research
Conduct market research using primary and secondary sources to support the development of new academic programs and inform the transformation of existing programs
Analyze and synthesize the collected research to provide key findings and actionable recommendations, including but not limited to:
External competitor / peer school benchmarking
IPEDS data analysis
Burning Glass labor data analysis
Keyword / search terms review
SIS course analysis
Internal benchmarking
Peer school / employer interviews
Create formal reports and presentation-ready deliverables summarizing meaningful findings and recommendations for an executive audience.
Strategic Analysis and Reporting
Design and execute advanced analyses to support strategic decision making and advance university priorities, including but not limited to identifying top opportunities for new program development / growth, developing business cases to inform investment decisions, and conducting ad hoc analysis as requested by senior leadership
Manage a Salesforce database of academic program proposals and existing academic programs, centers, and affiliation agreements; work with internal technical support to update database as processes and requirements evolve
Develop and generate reports on school program portfolios, program performance (admissions, enrollment, financials), and competitive and labor markets for senior leadership and board of trustees
Partner with internal Tufts teams (e.g., budget center, institutional research, IT) on projects and data needs to support new programs and university-wide initiatives
Coordinate with third-party market research data providers
Coordinate and support OSPD student interns


Required Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree
Superior creative problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
Excellent and demonstrable financial, business, and strategic analysis skills (e.g., survey development and analysis, market studies, pricing analysis, competitor benchmarking, financial / database analysis) developed over at least three years of analytical or market research experience
Excellent and demonstrable business writing skills and ability to synthesize recommendations for executive audiences (e.g., executive summaries of detailed market research reports, powerpoint presentation, email)
Excellent and demonstrable verbal communication skills in a variety of settings (e.g., one-on-one, leading large groups, presentations, ability to work with senior and junior stakeholders)
Project management experience
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Team player mentality, flexibility, and ability to adapt as the office evolves
Comfort operating independently and desire to look for opportunities to go above and beyond
Advanced skills with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience & Skills:
Experience with Salesforce
Ability to develop Tableau reports and analysis
Experience working in or with education, non-profit, government, or other public sector organizations
