Study Abroad Advisor

Position Summary
- Advise students interested in education abroad opportunities. Provide support to students for the entire education abroad program lifecycle, from program selection through the period abroad, and upon reentry.
- Help curate and manage the office’s portfolio of faculty-led and outbound exchange programs, including serving as a primary liaison for current and prospective program leaders
- Plan and participate in special events designed to promote study abroad, and coordinate pre-departure orientations for outbound faculty-led and exchange programs.
- Support program promotion and outreach including materials development and dissemination.
- Coordinate course articulation, manage program information, and produce reports.
- Support projects designed to further UB’s Education Abroad mission

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of directly related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience should include student programming and/or advisement responsibilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Experience in public speaking and formal presentations are essential as is an ability to communicate enthusiasm for the programs and activities being represented.
- Computer skills including word processing, database management, and use if internet and electronic mail.
- Ability to work occasional non-standard (evening and weekend) hours, as needed to satisfy the position duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior study abroad participation, or experience working internationally
- Experience liaising with faculty and administrators in a US higher education environment
- Prior experience with Terra Dotta Software or other on-line application management software packages.
