Overview
The Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health (IDGH) combines four important areas of expertise within Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. These are public/population health, international medicine, wildlife and conservation medicine, and infectious disease research. The alignment of these areas promotes cross-disciplinary strengths that are important in achieving the department's goal of improving human, animal and ecosystem health locally, nationally and globally.
What You'll Do
Under minimal supervision, this part time Administrative Assistant provides advanced administrative support and communications for the Department Chair, Department Manager, faculty, staff and students in the department.
- Serves in a highly visible capacity as a resource for department students, staff, faculty and other constituents.
- Provide general guidance and explanation of departmental policies and procedures and serve as a source of problem solving for faculty, staff and other constituents. Plan and coordinate meetings or special events, including contacting speakers; designing promotional material and coordinating support for speakers or presenters.
- Responsible for all aspects of the department newsletter and maintaining/updating the department website content and social media platforms as a part of coordinating department communications.
- Assist faculty and program coordinators with DVM program teaching related needs.
- Assist faculty with expense reports.
- May also coordinate programs and/or special projects for the department.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and Skill typically acquired through completion of a high school diploma/GED
- 5+ years of administrative experience OR a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience.
- Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including word processing, editing and graphics functions, spreadsheet and database knowledge.
- Bookkeeping or basic accounting knowledge and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Google and Adobe suites.
- Experience with web publishing tools, preferably Drupal and HTML and social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook).
- Ability to prioritize work while meeting demanding deadlines with frequent interruptions.
