Job Description

  • Serve as initial point of contact for inquiries from students, parents, faculty and staff. This includes, but is not limited to, inquiries regarding the explanation of student account details, billing, available payment methods, third party billing, 1098-T Tuition Tax Statement, refunds, due dates and late fees.
  • Responsible for receiving, recording and depositing all monies received by the Office of Student Accounts in accordance with established departmental procedures in an accurate and timely manner. This includes making change, issuing receipts, balancing and maintaining change funds.
  • Place direct phone calls and E-mails to students with delinquent accounts.
  • Assist students and parents with individual questions or concerns in an open, friendly and poised manner.
  • Adhere to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) while managing sensitive confidential information to analyze the student’s financial situation.
  • Post, verify, retrieve and track student data related to student payments, student balances and billing. Record student data as appropriate, detect and correct errors and discrepancies as directed.
  • Provide general administrative assistance including opening and sorting mail, updating departmental schedule, and responding to both departmental email and voicemail.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulations, policies and applicable requirements related to Student Accounts and University policies.
  • Attend trainings related to professional development and compliance to maintain accurate and up to date information on policies and procedures
  • Interpret, apply and explain rules, laws, policies and procedures with good judgment in a variety of procedural situations.
  • Hire and supervise student workers which includes assigning work and completing payroll information.
  • Reconcile cashiering sessions in preparation for daily bank deposit. Provide daily bank reconciliation to Finance.
  • Interpret, apply and explain Federal Title IV rules related to student refunds and qualified expenses.  
  • Process letters of credit and tuition discounts for corporate students in accordance with contractual agreements. Submit invoices, process payment from third-party administrators, and reconcile and collect on third-party accounts.
  • Use professional judgment in determining late fee waivers.
  • Assist with department projects as needed.
