What you'll be doing

The Environmental Health Manager's role is to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and maintain the company's compliance with safety laws.

This position will have these specific responsibilities

  • Working with regulatory agencies that govern environmental compliance.
  • Manage, write, review, implement, and update programs to achieve compliance and best practices.
  • Collaborate between departments as it relates to environmental health and compliance.
  • Develop training for employees and students as it relates to environmental health and compliance.
  • Management of interns and supervise their activities as it relates to environmental health.
  • Manage Hazardous Waste Program campus wide, RCRA (Recourse Conversation and Recovery Act). Manage Clean Air Act (CAA) compliance and identify and log emission sources.
  • Manage CWA (Clean Water Act). Identification of current discharge potentials, document controls and implement contingency plans.
  • SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
  • Identify potential pollution exposure to storm water and monitor federal compliance.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in a directly related field of study; OR a combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials, environmental health, and sanitation practices
  • Good written/communication skills.
  • Teaching to peers and other employees to develop, train, and maintain website.
  • Ability to talk, walk, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to speak English.
  • Ability to utilize all types of word processing/computer skills.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in a field directly related with experience totaling greater than five years
  • .Licenses or Certifications HAZWOPER, CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), REHS-RS (Registered Environmental Health Specialist-Registered Sanitarian), CEM (Certified Environmental Manager)



Physical Requirements:
-Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. -Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
-Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
-Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
