Overview

Established in 1981, the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy is the only graduate and professional school of nutrition in North America. Its mission is to improve the nutritional well-being of people worldwide through the creation of new knowledge, application and dissemination of evidence-based information and education and training of future leaders in the field. 

The Friedman School Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs (OAFA), which is led by the Associate Dean for Education and the Associate Dean for Faculty, fosters an environment that encourages the greatest possible professional, research, and leadership development and performance of faculty and post-doctoral scholars at the Friedman School and the highest quality educational programs for Friedman School students enabling graduates to make high impact contributions to their fields.


What You'll Do

The Education Administrator is a key member of the Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs (OAFA), providing operational and programmatic support for initiatives and daily functions. In this role, the OAFA Education Administrator supports the work and projects of the Associate Dean for Education.  The Education Administrator acts as a liaison to the office, interfacing with both students and faculty on behalf of the Associate Dean for Education and office as a whole. The Administrator works closely with the Associate Dean for Education on educational programs and administrative projects. They are also responsible for overseeing recurring tasks such as managing the doctoral program, adjunct payments and standing committee meetings, helping to keep the office running effectively.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • The following required knowledge and skills as typically acquired by completing a High school degree or diploma/GED and 5+ years of administrative experience in a medical, academic, or business setting OR a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High level computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to communicate professionally, discretely, and tactfully
  • Ability to work effectively and to produce accurate and professional work products
  • Ability and willingness to learn new tasks and functions quickly, seek guidance and training as needed, and ask questions as appropriate
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability and experience to work collaboratively with multiple offices
  • Ability to track status of ongoing matters and follow up as required, and to escalate emergencies and other time sensitive issues as appropriate
  • Ability to properly manage confidential information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working in Higher Education
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft and Qualtrics
  • Experience in project, program and/or event management
  • The coordinator is expected to work on campus at least 3 days per week, with other days remotely if desired.
