POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Work Location:  Knapp Hall, LSU Campus, Baton Rouge, LA

 

Position Description:  Entry to mid-level position with general state-wide responsibilities that include providing technical support for Unified Communications (UC) and Infrastructure sections of the Information Technology unit for the LSU Agricultural Center; providing in-person and remote support of UC and Infrastructure equipment, tools, and services for the LSU AgCenter and its constituents; troubleshooting voice, video, networking equipment, computer hardware and software, etc., issues related to Infrastructure and UC; researching, managing, monitoring, and supporting enterprise UC and Infrastructure equipment, tools, and services; assist with billing for VoIP and cellular accounts across the org;  troubleshooting networking, audio, video, and voice equipment issues (access points, switches, phones, webcams, audio mixers, amplifiers, etc.); installing Infrastructure and UC equipment, software, etc.; installing, monitoring, and managing software and hardware updates for Infrastructure and UC devices; communicating and working closely with other AgCenter IT sections; updating current and creating new UC and Infrastructure documentation, knowledge base articles, wiring diagrams, etc.; communicating with vendors to request quotes, order equipment, request return authorizations, etc.; compiling and monitoring telecom, cellular, voice, and video metrics;  creating, monitoring and responding to work orders, support cases, etc.; working toward continuing education and/or certifications related to voice, video, and information technology infrastructure.

 

Minimum Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree is required.  Strong analytical and technical communications skills required.  Some experience working with cloud-based conferencing applications (Teams, Zoom, etc.).  Candidates must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and or crawl as well as lift and handle 50 lbs.  Applicants must have a smartphone with voice and data services and have or be able to obtain a valid Louisiana driver's license.

 

Preferred Requirements:  Experience in providing customer service and support in-person, via phone, and remote tools.  Hands-on experience setting up microphones, cameras, VoIP phones, streaming equipment, and streaming service, etc. Experience with providing support for Microsoft Office products, Windows Operating System, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.

Knowledge or familiarity with:

  • Microsoft Tools

    • Windows Operating System (Windows 10/11)

    • Microsoft Teams

    • Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

    • Microsoft Outlook

    • Teams Administration

  • Computer, Network, Audio, and Video Equipment and Cabling

    • Access Points

    • Networking Switches

    • Audio Mixers

    • Video Cameras (HDMI, USB, etc.)

    • VoIP Phones

  • Video Conferencing Hardware, Software, and Services

    • Cameras

    • Microphones

    • Projectors

    • Computers

    • Cloud-based conferencing applications/services

      • Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.

  • VoIP Hardware, Software, and Services

    • Knowledge of Network Switches, QoS, PoE, VLAN, Audio/Video Codecs

    • Call queues, call attendants, phone number porting, etc.

    • Microsoft 365 Admin, Teams Admin, Microsoft licensing and provisioning

    • Creating and updating knowledge-base articles and user guides

    • Using remote PC assistance tools

 

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
