Overview
The Experimental College serves as a center for academic innovation across the undergraduate divisions of arts and sciences and engineering. As such, it functions as a locus for collaborative efforts wherein students, faculty, and administrators work together to offer courses not available in the traditional curriculum, to develop, test, and house new programs, and to organize special events for the campus.
At present, the Experimental College annually offers approximately eighty courses. Well over 90% of these are full-credit, letter-graded electives that count toward graduation and can fulfill various requirements. Purposefully kept small to encourage an interactive learning environment, Experimental College classes still enroll over 1500 students every year.
In addition, the Experimental College administers two peer-teaching programs wherein a select group of undergraduates design and teach courses that count as electives toward graduation, on a pass/fail basis.
