Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Plumber / Swimming Pool Mechanic for the Daytona Beach campus. The Plumber is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Daytona campus swimming pool, Welcome Center reflection pond, and plumbing related equipment. This position is responsible for maintenance in the pool building, ordering supplies, and maintaining pool water chemistry within acceptable sanitary conditions. The Plumber is also responsible for servicing all university plumbing systems and related fixtures and equipment, to include all lift stations and back flow prevention devices.
Responsibilities include the following:
Maintain proper chemical balance in swimming pool, completing daily reports, and submitting them to the Foreman at the end of each week. Responsible for proper upkeep of the pump room, chlorine room, supply room, pool apron, diving boards, and filter tanks. Vacuum pool sides and bottoms, pick up trash in and around pool complex. Maintain daily labor log of man hours and materials used. Responsible for keeping all equipment safe from vandalism, being misplaced, or stolen during working hours. Perform service on chemical pumps, water pumps, minor equipment, and general facility.
Responsible for maintaining, repairing, or replacing of plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, drainage and potable water distribution systems, lift stations and back flow prevention devices at all University locations.
Responsible for boilers, closed water systems in all complexes and for the safe handling of related chemicals.
Responsible for the efficient use of plumbing, water saving devices according to manufacturer’s schematics and blueprints.
Maintain plumbing water softener H2O analysis. Other job related duties as assigned by Foreman.
Proper use of hand and shop tools.
High school diploma or GED level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math.
Must pass a certified pool/spa operators course.
Must have at least three (3) year’s experience in maintenance or building construction field, and/or Journeyman Plumber license.
Must be able to read blue prints, make calculations and keep records.
Basic mechanical skills in use of hand and power tools.
