The University Occupational Health Services (OHS) provides work-related medical services for faculty, staff, and employees, of the university with the goal of preventing and minimizing health risks at the university. In addition, Tufts OHS provides technical input from the occupational medicine standpoint to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the Institutional Chemical Safety Committee (ICSC), and the Institutional Radiation Safety Committee (IRSC).

What You'll Do

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works under the supervision of the Associate Director of OHS and the University Infection Control Health Director to promote a safe, healthy work environment for faculty, staff, and employees of Tufts University. The primary responsibility will be to participate in and represent Tufts OHS on institutional safety committees, provide guidance around health issues affecting researchers, animal care staff, and other personnel who work in or enter research spaces, and work closely with key stakeholders such as safety, regulatory, and compliance leadership within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, chairs of institutional research oversight committees, and others. An important part of this work will be medical surveillance. Committee work will be performed under the direction of and collaboration with the Executive Medical Director of Tufts OHS. This position will be located on the Boston Health Sciences campus, and travel to other campuses may be required.

What We're Looking For

Knowledge and Experience typically acquired by obtaining a Master of Science degree in nursing

• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Massachusetts.
• Must have 2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Experience as an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Massachusetts worker’s compensation law, HIPAA, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA requirements.
• Experience in an academic or industry research-related occupational health setting is highly desirable but not required.
