Departmental Overview
The Administrative Computing Group (ACG) provides custom web application development and support. Our applications serve the College of Engineering, but have expanded to other departments and professional schools.
This position is part of a small, dedicated team primarily using PHP with Symfony. We maintain a portfolio of departmental and administrative applications covering a wide range of business areas. Each team member is a full stack developer who can work directly with staff and faculty to maintain and enhance these applications.

Responsibilities

- Design and develop new custom web applications.
- Maintain and enhance existing web applications.
- Manage ongoing operation of web applications.
- Perform highly complex data analysis, testing, and debugging.
- Apply and enforce campus standards on security practices.
- Apply and enforce campus standards on web accessibility.
- Apply and enforce development and application standards.
- Prepare and maintain programmer and user documentation.

- Collaborate with project managers, team members, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with technical partners throughout campus and in external organizations.
- Create project plans and technical requirements for complex applications.
10%
- Initiate and oversee changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
- Research and evaluate emerging software components.
- Build reusable libraries for common implementations.
- Prepare and approve system and programming documentation.
5%
- Participates in workshops, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing and building web applications using modern object-oriented PHP.
- Extensive experience creating client-side web applications using HTML, CSS, JSON, and JavaScript.
- Extensive experience utilizing CSS frameworks (Bootstrap).
- Extensive experience utilizing Javascript libraries (jQuery).
- Experience with web application frameworks (Symfony).
- Experience with version control (Git and GitHub).
- Experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle).
- Experience applying data modeling best practices.
- Experience writing software unit and integration tests.
- Understanding of best practices in responsive web accessibility, development, and standards.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner with clients and users.
- Familiarity with CSS preprocessors and UI frameworks.
- Deployment on UNIX/Linux operating systems in a production environment.
- Understanding of fundamental UX and UI design concepts and ability to create mockups.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range designated for this position: $91,400 - $131,100; however, starting salary will be commensurate with experience.This is a 100% FTE career position with full benefits.
