Overview
Tufts University Counseling and Mental Health Service (CMHS) as part of Tufts Health and Wellness, (which also includes Tufts Health Service and Tufts Health Promotion and Prevention), contributes to the educational mission of Tufts University through a variety of activities devoted to prevention, intervention, and consultation. Serving a diverse student body of approximately 7000 undergraduate and graduate students, CMHS is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment which is inclusive and culturally informed. What You'll Do
The Staff Clinician will perform the below duties:
- Provides referral services for students in need of resources off campus
- Coordinates student transitions from on campus services to community providers as needed
- Maintains and expands database of community mental health providers
- Provides direct clinical services to students as dictated by supervisor and as time allows
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Any of following MA mental health provider licenses: LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, or Psychologist Provider
- Demonstrated ability to make quick and thoughtful decisions during crisis situations while adhering to legal and ethical standards and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Demonstrated skills in psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and brief therapy with college-age clients;
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and skill addressing needs of diverse clients
- Ability to navigate resources to effectively meet diverse student needs
- Experience working with severe and chronic mental health conditions
- Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write timely, clear and concise clinical case notes, documents, and reports
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to make meaningful connections within and outside CMHS
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize competing demands and to work well under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and energetically follow through on projects
- Administrative and technological skills required to effectively document in an Electronic Health Record, and to create and maintain case management tracking and referral resource systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in college/university counseling service
- Demonstrated skills in clinical case management
- Knowledge of and experience with local mental health resources and systems of service
- Experience identifying resources within in- and out-of-network insurance plans
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
After-hours crisis intervention (including on-call rotation), occasional programming and/or other activities may occur evenings and/or weekends. This is a hybrid position expected to be on campus least 2-3 days each week.
