Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the country’s preeminent art and design school, located in historic Providence, RI, is seeking a Sr. Library Assistant, Circulation & Reserves to join its Fleet Library.
Founded in 1878, the RISD Library is one of the oldest independent art college libraries in the country. Library collections include more than 155,000 volumes and 320 periodical subscriptions (print) and offer unusual depth and richness in the areas of architecture, art, design, and photography. The library is noted for its artist’s book collection, its rare books and visual and material resource collections.
The Sr. Library Assistant, Circulation & Reserves, is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Assist and guide the general public, the faculty, and the students with a wide variety of library reserve and access needs. Serve as a central point of contact for a variety of routine and non-routine library questions. Maintain faculty reserves.
Job Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of two years of experience in customer service required, preferably in a college or library setting. Demonstrates proficiency with library management system is preferred, as well as basic computer skills. Attention to detail, basic analytical skills and ability to work with multiple diverse populations in an artistic setting.
