The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR), in collaboration with the Tufts University Alumni Association, strives to build lifelong relationships with students and alumni, with the goal of keeping alumni actively engaged and contributing to the university. We engage alumni through extensive programming initiatives in Boston, throughout the United States, and around the world catering to a variety of alumni needs and interests.

The Director of Outreach and Engagement, along with the Director of Chapters and Shared Interest Groups and others identified by the Executive Director, are part of the OAR leadership team. As such, the director should stay current with national trends in the interests of providing the highest quality alumni experiences. The director leads all campus reunion programming, including Homecoming, Alumni Weekend and Back to the Hill. This role also oversees Student and Young Alumni engagement efforts. The director works collaboratively with the Tufts Fund and the major gift teams to ensure class fundraising messaging and goals consistently supported. The director will also work to identify and help cultivate major gift prospects. Other key responsibilities include planning and implementing student programming; working collaboratively with the Tufts Fund, the Office of Campus Life, and various Deans. The director is also responsible for managing the Outreach and Engagement.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 7-10 years of extensive knowledge and experience in alumni relations.
Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Demonstrated track record of developing and executing alumni events and programs.
Experience managing or mentoring staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse constituencies preferred.
An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to lead change in a complex organization.
