Hours and Days of Work:  30 hour per week position.
 
Work Schedule:
Fall/spring semesters: Tuesday – Saturday 2:15pm -9:15pm.
Varied shifts during finals, breaks, and holidays. 
Finals extended hours: Tuesday – Thursday 2:15pm – 9:15pm; Friday 8pm – 3am; Saturday 6:15pm -1:15am.
Regular Summer Schedule: Tuesday – Thursday 7:00am – 3:00pm; Friday 12:00pm – 5:00pm; Saturday 12:00pm-6:00pm   

The hours and days of work are established by business requirements and may be changed at the direction of management. Regular working hours are designated to provide assistance to patrons. 

Promote academic success by providing support and expertise of library services, information resources, and technologies. Provides direct assistance to clientele with service and research needs, including access to and circulation of materials and equipment. Supervises the library operations and all its services and resources during the evening hours. Manages the patron records and provides operational support for the Access Services unit. Responsible during the evening for addressing issues of building safety facility problems and security issues. Supervises library student assistants in the afternoon and evening. 

Provides Direct Assistance to Clientele (40% – 12 hours per week):

  •  Provides direct one-on-one assistance and consultation to clientele at Checkout Desk and Computer Commons Help Desk, includes locating and accessing library information resources, materials, and services. Uses the integrated library system to provide check out of library materials and equipment. Negotiates overdue accounts and answers billing questions. Reconciles patron registration issues. Addresses patron needs and complaints.
  •  Provides technical assistance for student computers, monitors, printers, laptops, scanners, copiers, microform machine, plotter, and projectors.
  •  Works with and communicates equipment problems, issues, and work orders with the Library Technologies Associate for daytime service.
  •  Responsible for closing procedures on Fridays and Saturdays.
  •  Educates patrons on use of library services, policies, loan periods, fines, recalls, claims, holds, and borrowing. Enforces  patron confidentiality, FERPA compliance, security measures, and data integrity.
  •  Assists with Library Access Services Supervisor to prepare promotional materials, displays and exhibits.
  •  Supports library strategic initiatives, and special projects to provide advancement of library services and resources. 
     
    Manages Patron Records and Operational Support for Access Services (30% – 9 hours per week):
  •  Processes graduation, suspension, and dismissal notices.  Requests student lists each semester from Office of the Registrar.  Edit/expire student records, ensuring that library materials are either returned or billed accordingly in coordination with the Library Access Services Supervisor.
  •  Updates and maintains accuracy of faculty/staff/community patron records in the integrated library system each semester.
  •  Maintains the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) book collection.
  •  Updates and maintains student assistant handbook in collaboration with Access Services team.
  •  Updates and maintains policies/procedures files in Humanity and Dropbox, in collaboration with Access Services team.
     
    Shares Supervision of Student Assistants  (25% – 7.5 hours per week):
  •  Assists with  interviewing, hiring,  scheduling, training, and evaluating student assistants in the policies and procedures of the department.
  •  Participates in group chat app for daily communication with student assistants.
     
    Oversees Building Safety and Emergency Preparedness (5% – 1.5 hours per week):
  •  Ensures patrons experience a safe and secure environment in which to study and learn. Makes sure that patrons adhere to policies and procedures. Resolves issues as they arise.
  •  Acts as the evening liaison with the Safety Department, Facilities Management, and Janitorial services. Initiates emails and telephone calls relating to HVAC, lighting, plumbing, building maintenance, and cleaning.  Attends the Safety Department’s Building Liaison meetings. Give reports at full staff meetings.
  •  Participates in updating the library emergency manual.
