Custodial Services Specialist
$12.75 per hour or higher commensurate with experience
The Custodial Service Specialist will maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment for students, staff and guests; interacting and responding to customer needs.
Areas of responsibilities are:
- Residential Halls/Classrooms;
- LLC 24 Hr. Desk;
- Auxiliaries Dept. Offices;
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Cleaning and maintaining of restrooms;
- Common shower areas;
- Empty resident rooms;
- Office spaces;
- Exterior of buildings;
- Entrance ways;
- Light maintenance of equipment related to custodial duties.
During the summer months Custodial Service Specialists will take on the responsibility of directing and training of temporary employees. Working with their supervisor they will assist in supervising the summer crew to clean and maintain residential facilities for a multitude of summer conferences which also includes linen laundering and exchange. They will also be responsible for completing projects set forth by the department.

Due to the duties of this position, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age.**
Willingness to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial type cleaning equipment such as high speed buffers and vacuum cleaners.
Ability to clean restrooms and shower facilities; and/or similar facilities; Ability to move heavy items such as tables, chairs, furniture, cleaning equipment, and other related devices operated in cleaning.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and directions including cleaning equipment operation instructions; cleaning supplies and materials use and disposal instructions.
Understand written and verbal instructions from supervisors, customers, and staff.
Prior experience that indicates a skill level necessary to perform any of the assigned custodial and maintenance tasks.
Some knowledge of supervisory practices and demonstrated ability to lead and supervise teams.
Experience working around students: custodial and/or commercial experience; demonstrated dependability; ability to work well and interact with co-workers and customers.
Demonstrate reliability/dependability through work history, school, or business.
Experience working in a team-cleaning environment.
Experience with computers for basic functions.
Have a valid drivers license and completion of defensive driving course within 6 months of employment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Physical ability to: bend, stoop, lift, and otherwise move items weighing up to approximately 60 lbs.
Stand and walk continuously throughout the shift. Some positions may require climbing and working from ladders.
