Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for a full-time (40 hours a week) Career and Partnership Program (CPP) Grant and Internship Manager. The position responsibilities are twofold. This position leads the coordination, management, and data collection and reporting of all TMCC Internships. This position is also responsible for the management of Career Hub grants, currently the Emergency Management Students Training in Emergency Professions (STEP) Grant. The position is 50% state funded and 50% grant funded. The current grant runs through December 2025. Additional grant funding will be sought for continuation.

This position will be supervised by the TMCC Program Director of the Career and Partnership Programs Office.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in a related field

2. Three (3) years of related professional experience

OR

Associates degree and five (5) years of related professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree

2. 3 years or more of directly relevant work experience strongly preferred, such as occupational or career counseling, job development, or job placement services.

Duties and Responsibilities

50% Internship Manager

  • Develop and expand the internship program to include more academic fields and workforce sectors.
  • Assist students in locating internships and maintain a regular schedule of orientations and workshops to inform students of internship requirements, to address issues that may arise during internships and to support students throughout their internship experience.
  • Research and identify potential internship and job opportunities in alignment with students' academic backgrounds and career aspirations.
  • Work with students and alumni in developing and enhancing professional skills related to the internship and job search processes, including resume writing, interviewing and networking.
  • When needed, connect students with campus resources (primarily Counseling and Career Services) for remediating soft skills or addressing other issues impacting internship success.
  • Manage Department email accounts.
  • Design and implement marketing strategies to engage students, employers and faculty to integrate academic studies with work experience; disseminate information on internships using print and electronic communication; design, update and maintain web page. Plan and execute events to link students, faculty and employers.
  • Collaborate with employers, industry partners, and alumni to develop and maintain a network of internship and job opportunities suitable for students in various fields.


50% CPP Grant Management

  • Recruit students from various related public safety or health-related TMCC Skills Certificates, for application to the STEP program. Assist students in enrolling in STEP workshops.
  • Develop the policies, short- and long-range goals, and budget expenditures.
  • Design and implement marketing strategies to engage students, employers and faculty to integrate academic studies with work experience; disseminate information on the STEP program in print and electronic communication; design, update and maintain web page. Plan and execute events to link students, faculty and employers.
  • Research and identify potential job opportunities in alignment with students' academic backgrounds and career aspirations. Maintain a database of student and employer referrals, placement, and outcomes.
  • Collect and compile data on all grant outcomes and produce required grant reports.
  • Actively work with TMCC's diverse student population to ensure inclusion, success, and access.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: $65,105 - $81,381, salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
