Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform the duties of athletic training, oversee the athletic training facilities and service the medical needs of the College student-athletes.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Under the direction of a team physician, responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.
Manage the athletic training facility and athletic training volunteers.
Medical supply inventory control and ordering.
Act as liaison between the team physician, student-athlete, coaching staff, and other health care providers as necessary while maintaining HIPPA confidentiality standards.
Collaborate with the Athletic Director and assigned supervisor in budget, facility and scheduling situations.
Schedule student-athlete physicals, maintain confidential medical records, and along with the team physician, establish medical clearance requirement for participation.
Perform related duties as assigned.
CCCAA rules and regulations.
Computer (i.e. Microsoft Office) and other types of software programs.
Maintain ethical standards set forth by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
Maintain education standards for continuing certification set forth by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
Effectively communicate with coaches and fellow staff members.
Collaborate with the team physician to establish standing orders for emergency, acute, and rehabilitative care.
Utilize computer and demonstrate the ability to learn a variety of software programs.
Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years' experience in an athletic injury setting, in athletic psychology and sports medicine and in recognition and care of athletic injuries.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Membership in good standing with the National Athletic Trainer's Association.
Current BOC Certified Athletic Trainer Certification with CEU requirements.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Ability to pass CA DMV physical to drive FHDA vanpool.
Indoor and outdoor environments, all weather conditions, a variety of game surfaces from wood floors to grass
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone as well as making presentations.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, apply athletic tape support, manipulate joints, apply therapeutic modalities.
Seeing to read various materials.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 100 lbs.
Ability to run short distances to reach injured athletes.
