Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, ensure the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Major Responsibilities:
- Observe activities in aquatic facility.
- Warn participants of unsafe or illegal conduct.
- Inspect equipment for safety hazards and damage or wear.
- Rescue distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
- Contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
- Examine injured persons and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures and customer service standards and procedures. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, apply lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques, and follow routine verbal and written instructions. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department. CPR Certification mandatory; current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training.
