The Desktop Support Specialist I provides desktop support services to the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) and NIU administrative departments and VIPs. The position configures, delivers, and installs desktop computers, laptops, and tablets to users. He /she arranges for equipment delivery; at higher levels, the position obtains quotes on new hardware and software purchases. This position reviews and processes Service Desk incidents and requests and responds to direct requests for assistance from DoIT staff and VIPs. He/she provides IP telephony support for DoIT staff. This position deploys, racks, repairs, and decommissions server hardware for the Data Center. Must provide off-hour on-call support when required. The Desktop Support Specialist I reports to the Director of Service Operations Center.
