Founded in 2015, the Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences (CABCS) is a cooperative research initiative between Tufts University and the U.S. Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center. Our mission is to bring together a unique interdisciplinary community of scientists and engineers to advance the state of the art in applied brain and cognitive sciences. The Center provides an innovative environment for conducting collaborative applied research focusing on measuring, predicting, and enhancing cognitive capabilities and human system interactions for individuals and teams working in naturalistic high-stakes environments.
In collaboration with the CABCS Project Administrator, provides advanced support and coordination for the daily operations of the Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Science. Produces a variety of documents, reports and proposals, responds to inquiries and provides detailed information to constituents. Initiate and process transactions such as requisitions, reimbursements, travel booking, contractor agreements, etc. in a timely manner using a variety of Tufts systems. Organizes and maintains files and databases; designs and updates applications or other forms for data entry. Manage payment to study participants, and reconciliation of petty cash and check vouchers; recommend and implement improvements to these procedures. In coordination with Tufts investigators, Tufts Institutional Review Boards, and the Human Research Protections Officer at CCDC, ensures timely submission of all required IRB actions and tracks IRB timelines. May assist in updating website. Coordinates logistics for meetings and events, including visits from high-level Army personnel. Coordinates hiring, onboarding, and all payroll actions for Center staff. May assist in budget monitoring.
Bachelor’s degree and 0-3 years of related office experience.
Must be a self-starter.
Must be comfortable routinely interacting with other staff, visitors, study participants, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic quantitative skills.
Highly organized and invested in assessing and implementing improvements to organizational systems.
3-5 years experience in an administrative position preferred
Some experience in a higher education or research setting preferred
Experience working and collaborating remotely preferred
