Overview
The Tufts Center for Study of Drug Development (Tufts CSDD) is an academic, multi-disciplinary non-profit research center based within the Tufts University School of Medicine in downtown Boston. Tufts CSDD conducts grant-funded empirical research on drug development trends, strategies, practices and outcomes, provides educational programs and information to help drug developers, regulators, and policy makers improve the quality and efficiency of pharmaceutical development, review, and utilization.
What You'll Do
The Grants and Program Administrator in Tufts CSDD is responsible for managing the center’s grant awards and financial activity. Responsibilities include:
Financial Negotiations and Resolution
- Initiates and leads discussions with sponsors - both middle and senior level executives - to negotiate contracts; set payment terms and address discrepancies and issues
- Investigates and works with sponsors to resolve financial disputes
- Reconciles monthly financial report for each project, and reports in management meeting; reconciles QER reports
- Manages and communicates processing and receipt of large and complex multi-year sponsorship grants (typical range: $250,000 - $750,000)
- Prepares and discusses financial forecasts
Grants Management
- Works with Principle Investigator about projects milestones, and forward status to Sponsored Accounting for billing purposes, or extend project time line
- Prepares and presents financial reports – including budgets, historical statements and forecasts
- Prepares budget for grant projects, and manages labor distribution for individual staff
- Monitors CSDD’s financial performance
- Maintains grant projects data for reporting to Medical School
- Processes grant awards using the University financial systems
Staff Related Duties
- Provides training of department staff on CSDD and Tufts online systems, financial and grant management
- Assists with onboarding of new department staff
- Monitors and reports staff financial history
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and skills typiccaly aacquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years related experience
- Experience using Microsoft Excel to perform basic accounting and financial tracking and reporting
Preferred Quailifications:

Experience with other Microsoft Office Suite tools (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and virtual meeting platforms

Strong organizational and follow-through skills

Experience working in an academic institution setting entering, processing and tracking financial data and information

Knowledge of accounting/finance

Comfort level handling multiple projects simultaneously
Salary Range
Minimum $46,700.00, Midpoint $58,450.00, Maximum $70,200.00 Salary is based on skills, related experience, and qualifications; generally, however, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
