What You'll Do

As the Content Strategist/UX Writer in the Design & TTS Digital Solutions team, you will improve, and often design, the content experience in end-to-end user journeys across the portfolio of Tufts University school, department, program, center, and lab websites, administrative content website such as AccessTufts, and other mission-critical digital properties. A user-focused, creative professional who enjoys collaborating in a dynamic and agile environment, you will work closely with designers and developers and with university stakeholders to ensure delightful, consistent, and coordinated digital experiences that enable core business objectives and that are intuitive to navigate. You will help us bolster and measure the effectiveness of our websites through SEO keyword research and web analytics reporting. You will have the opportunity to work throughout all phases of the design process, identifying the content problems that need to be solved and deciding which methods and tools to use for the challenge at hand. A gifted wordsmith, you will write concise, engaging content that expresses appropriate brand voice and personality. Thinking holistically and with a UX focus at both the project and product level, you will craft essential artifacts such as information architecture models, taxonomies, and metadata frameworks for grouping and tagging content, as well as user stories and design thinking discovery documents. This position is eligible for remote work.


What We're Looking For

• Skills and knowledge typically acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree in related field, such as English, journalism, technical writing, or library science, or 5+ years’ of equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience creating/writing/publishing content for Web or other digital media, with demonstrated ability to bring a consistent and harmonious tone across digital properties; deep understanding of mobile copywriting and usage patterns, and web and accessibility standards
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and proven ability to lead tasks and drive results.
• A proven track record collaborating on projects where translating, visually, complex concepts into easy-to-understand interactive experiences is required.
• Proficiency in web analytic tools such as SiteImprove and Google Analytics
• Experience providing content strategy for at least one large website
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0, 2.1)
• Extensive experience planning for and developing useful, usable content including instructional text, error and confirmation messages, taxonomy and nomenclature.
• Passion for creating great user experiences with actionable knowledge of the digital landscape including current industry and user trends, emerging technologies, and standards.
• Understanding of interaction design and information architecture with regards to content strategy and experience crafting information architecture models (primary and secondary navigation systems).
• Ability to scope, organize and execute multiple projects with interrelated goals.



Preferred Experience, Education


• Experience developing content types, taxonomies, entity queues, etc., in Drupal.
• Experience devising strategies for, and assisting in the execution of, the integration of feed (RSS, CSV) and social media content into content management systems, specifically Drupal.
• Experience working with pattern library technology such as Storybook or Pattern Lab
• Experience working with and/or creating artifacts such as personas, concept models, site maps, flowcharts, wireframes, etc., to articulate user need and inform and define deliverables.
• Working knowledge of wireframing and prototyping tools such as Azure, inVision, Sketch, Visio, or UXPin
• Experience with, or working knowledge of, Design Thinking frameworks and methodologies
• Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
• Working knowledge of SEO, and content personalization tools such as Acquia Personalization (Lift) and other digital experience platform tools.
• Experience performing usability testing
