What You'll Do

Within this role the lab technician will assist with the following:

  • Assist postgraduate residents with designing and making orthodontic appliances
  • Fabricate various removable and fixed orthodontic appliances
  • Track all the orthodontic appliances checking-in and out from the orthodontic lab
  • Design and run the orthodontic department digital workflow (scanning, digital designing of models and appliances, printing)
  • Obtaining cone beam CT scan
  • Work with safety coordinator on lab safety training for researchers, students and visiting scholars
  • Qualify, troubleshoot, and maintain 3D printers, and other orthodontic lab equipment
  • Maintain inventory for orthodontic lab
  • Maintaining all orthodontic department laboratory facility, equipment and instruments
  • Supervise residents who work in lab
  • Manage lab spaces
  • Improve the quality and flow for in-house laboratory to reduce the dependency on the outside orthodontic labs.
  • Identify orthodontic technologies that can improve productivity
  • Link 3D models to images and X-rays, apply tooth feature points and ship 3D models to practices for review.
  • Produce orthodontic set-up's digitally for treatment with aligner appliances, using proprietary software.
  • Inspect incoming set-up request regarding feasibility and consistency.
  • Set-up the teeth according to the request of the clinician
  • Check and correct the design of the appliances before they are sent for fabrication
  • Other duties and responsibilities not specifically described may be assigned from time to time at supervisor's discretion.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Hands-on skills to build, repair, and maintain orthodontics appliances Familiar with orthodontics equipment such as Digital scanners, 3D printers, Welding machines Experience with CBCT machines and CBCT taking Previous experience working with students.
