Summary: UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY is excited to announce a newly created role on our campus, Associate Vice President for the Student Experience and Enrollment Management. This high-energy role utilizes creativity, strategy, and passion to oversee the delivery of a first-rate university experience for students. UVU emphasizes "a place for you" no matter a student's personal or educational background and this role will make a large-scale impact on the lives of students as you help coordinate delivery on this student-first mission.
WHO WE ARE: Utah Valley University is an innovative large, public institution serving a dual mission as a community college and four-year institution, located in the expanding metropolitan Salt Lake City region. UVU is an open-admission university on track for enrollment growth over the next ten years. Our access-driven mission places employees as key figures in the lives of many types of students including adult, first-generation, and high financial need students.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Act as the chief enrollment, retention, and student experience officer.
- Provide vision, leadership, and creative solutions for student recruitment, enrollment, onboarding, retention, and the overall student experience.
- Develop partnerships with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external partners to address the enrollment and student success goals of the university and work to ensure an outstanding student experience that leads to retention and completion.
- Work with campus leadership to remove barriers, improve processes, and facilitate engaged learning through a seamless, personalized, comprehensive university experience.
- Directly manage and oversee Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid and Scholarships, First-Year Experience and Student Retention, and the Career Development Center.
- Serve as a member of the Student Affairs executive leadership team.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME: 30% Oversees the development and implementation of the university's strategic enrollment, student completion, and student experience plans. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on enrollment and retention. Develops innovative practices to enliven the student experience so students become more excited about attending and staying in college.
30% Collaborates with campus and external partners to support the student success mission of UVU. Serves on or leads committees, task forces, projects, and initiatives. Engages with student success entities and associations and leads conversations and efforts to improve consistently the UVU student experience.
30% Oversees strategic planning, operational management, administrative direction, personnel, budgets, resource allocation, and assessment of the enrollment management division.
10% Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a degree in Higher Education Leadership, Public Policy, Business, or other related field plus five years of progressive experience, including supervision of personnel, budgets, strategic planning, and implementation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge:
- Knowledge of higher education leadership, administrative organization, strategic planning, implementation, and assessment.
- Knowledge of student recruitment, development, advising, and retention theory, research, trends, and best practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations applicable to enrollment management.
- Knowledge of financial and business analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of effective organizational staffing, supervision, and personnel practices, including staff development and training.
- Knowledge of and commitment to UVUs mission and strategic directions.
Skills:
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences including students, their families, advisors, counselors, faculty, staff and administrators with the highest degree of professionalism and courtesy.
- Creative thinking, problem-solving and decision-making.
- Diplomacy, professionalism, and engaged collaboration across university divisions, faculty, and staff.
- Program planning, development, implementation, assessment, and leadership.
- Employee development and performance management.
- Budget preparation, fiscal management, and resource allocation.
Abilities:
- High energy to engage and motivate people of various backgrounds and skill sets.
- Relationship cultivation and group facilitation techniques to ensure effective engagement by partners.
- Fostering a dynamic, collaborative, and engaged workplace environment with an approach that is positive and optimistic that leads to effective practices and services.
Preferred Qualifications: A doctorate is preferred but not required
Physical Requirements: Activity typical for an office environment
