Position Summary
The
Senior Academic Advisor provides undergraduate academic advising and outreach to prospective and current UB exploratory students. The University at Buffalo
Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center (EPAC), within the Department of Student Success and Academic Support, seeks to hire a Senior Academic Advisor. This position will report to the Assistant Director/Coordinator, New Student Services in the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Provide timely, accurate, and courteous undergraduate academic advising to prospective and current UB exploratory students.
- Assist students with academic planning, major, and course selection guidance related to students’ interests and abilities.
- Offer advice in the following settings: in-office counseling, telephone, Zoom/virtual, and email, including managing and tracking assigned caseload of students in EAB/Navigate.
- Responsible for programming for exploratory students, including workshops, events, webinars, and other collaborative efforts and for assessing these programs.
- Contribute to/teach the UE 101:Major and Career Exploration course.
- Present information in small and large group settings at University Admissions events and other informational sessions (in-person and virtual) during regular business and occasional weekend and evening hours.
- Assist with various office projects and committees, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs administration, counseling or related human services field with a minimum of one (1) year of professional academic advising experience working with students in a college or university setting and competencies in the following areas:
- Experience serving and supporting diverse student populations.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail/accuracy.
- Strong technological/computer competence.
- Positive and professional demeanor.
